Kodanad - largest elephant training kraal of Kerala
Kodanad, the famous and the largest elephant kraal is located at Ernakulam district and falls under the Malayattoor forest division. The drive is about 42 kilometers east of Kochi. This also had an associated mini zoo, best for a week-end trip for nature and animal lovers. This elephant rescue/training center has been relocated to 'Abhayaranyam' at nearby Kaprikkad village launched at 18th February 2011 mainly aimed at rehabilitation all the animals from Kodanad Elephant training center which is 2 kilometers away from the old location.
